The project will develop a community allotment with 15 raised beds, a sensory garden, a ‘chill out zone’ for members of the community to enjoy and relax, a kiln style oven and a composting area where everyone will be able to learn how to cook the fruit and vegetables they grow and how to compost properly. The project will provide a source of fresh fruit and vegetables to consume and/or buy and sell, especially for people with disabilities or long term illness, people will have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating and the skills to grow and prepare fruit and vegetables. It will also improve community cohesion and involvement and increase the confidence and self esteem of the participants, particularly the children, disabled and excluded groups.
Please help us to inspire and transform the lives of children and young people, people with disabilities, people in their twilight years and the local and wider community by voting for us. Our project will leave a legacy in North Yorkshire that groups and organisations from West, South and East Yorkshire will also be able to use. Groups from all over Yorkshire already visit our woodland so please help to make a difference.
