Yorkshire Projects

ITV Yorkshire transmits to nearly four million people living in towns and villages throughout North Yorkshire, East Riding / Humber, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire.

Over the past five years of the People’s Millions competition we have seen some great projects in the region. Previous winners include a city farm, a specialist inclusive centre, multi-use games areas and many more.

Region Projects

Savile Park Games Court
The project will install a multi use games area (MUGA) on the site of an unused tennis court at Castleford Savile Park. This MUGA will include a five-a-side football pitch, basketball and tennis courts and facilities for two other sports. The project will provide young people in the area with the location and facilities to become more involved in sports. The project will benefit approximately 10,400 people
Extending Multi Sensory Experiences
The project will install an interactive sensory studio at the Penny Field specialist site that will work in conjunction with the reading and learning library, and hydrotherapy pool. The multi sensory studio will include sights and sounds that can be interactive or programmed to experience a virtual world within the theatre. The project will directly benefit 250 people.
Bransholme Woodland Warriors
The project will rejuvenate a community woodland, which has become overgrown and neglected. Paths will be reinstated, picnic benches will be installed and tree and shrub planting will take place. The group will employ a projects officer to co-ordinate an
James Street Play Area
The project will improve and upgrade an existing neglected play area by installing a new multi use games area. The improved area will be linked to services for young people so that they can engage in positive activities. The project will benefit 7,300 people.
