Region Projects
- Kings Mill Outdoor Play Project
- Kings Mill School is an area special school for children and young people aged 2 to 16 years with a range of learning, physical and sensory difficulties. The proposed project will redevelop the school playground into a stimulating learning environment, available to both school pupils and after school clubs from other special schools who make use of the site. The area will incorporate areas for teaching, studying, play and socialising. There will be an estimated 170 beneficiaries.
- Roots 2 Shoots
- The project aims to landscape a derelict area and turn it into a large allotment with a picnic area and play area. They want to fence off the plot and volunteers will grow the produce that will be used in the organisation's café. The project will directly benefit 120 people.
- Calder Play
- The project will create a new playground for children in the area of Calder Holmes Park. The current playground is old and not accessible to children with disabilities. As part of the project the Town Council will carry out workshops, competitions, and discussions with local schools and children's groups. This will allow the future users of the playground to have a say in its design. The group estimates there will be 6000 beneficiaries.
- Field of Dreams
- The project aims to develop a large green field behind the school into a community space with several projects to enable access and improve facilities. It will create seating areas for older people, garden and wildflower areas, where people can get involved in planting, a children's play area, a community sports space and improved pathways through the field. Approximately 4,000 members of the community will benefit.
- HYENA's Holmewood Youth Project
- The proposed project will develop a multi-use area for sports and recreation, in an attempt to reduce anti-social behaviour. The land earmarked for the project is located at the heart of the community to maximize impact. Coaching courses will be provided for football, basketball and netball. Support will also be provided for children wanting to engage in graffiti art for the area. Community open days will be arranged to volunteer for litter picking, cleaning, general tidying and planting. There will be an estimated 947 beneficiaries.
