Arts 4 Wellbeing is a long established centre of excellence in South Tyneside, providing tuition in arts and crafts in our community, particularly for those suffering from mental health problems.
This new project would utilise specially trained and professional artists to provide creative outreach sessions within the community, in comfortable, accessible and safe venues. The project would be aimed particularly at people with mental health problems, older people, isolated women and the black and ethnic minority community. Sessions will include painting, many different crafts, pottery making and other creative activities. Through this innovative project some of our community’s most vulnerable and lonely people would be able to experience arts as a therapeutic means. Arts and crafts have long been medically established as a successful means of stress relief, relaxation and building self-confidence through achievement and this project would benefit hard to reach groups within our community.
