Tyne Tees Projects
ITV Tyne Tees covers the area between the town of Berwick upon Tweed near the border with Scotland and the city of York.
Over the past five years of the People’s Millions competition we have seen some great projects in in the region. Previous winners include play areas, a scout’s bunkhouse, riverside pontoons, a swimming pool and many more.

Region Projects
- Plant it, eat it!
- The project will re-develop a currently unuseable allotment site and transform it into a functional community allotment site, with some livestock, that will be used by everyone. The area will be used as a training facility to develop the skills required
- Development Of Recreation Area
- The project will establish a multi-use games area which will accommodate a five-a-side football pitch, tennis, netball and basketball. The applicant states that the village currently has no provision for recreational activities.
- Ginney's Garden Of Contemplation
- The project will see the development of two of areas of their garden, both of which will be used as training gardens. One area will be used to grow fruit and vegetables and the second area (the Wellburn Border), will be used to grow fruits and exotic flowers. The project aims to provide aspects that will be beneficial to people with disabilities, and this will include sensory lighting and tactile features.
- Lionheart Radio Training Studio
- The project will create an off-air training studio so that young people and unemployed people will have the opportunity to develop a variety of media skills and pursue a career in broadcast media. The current facilities do not have enough space and off-air training is difficult to provide as it is a busy live studio. A separate off-air training facility would allow the activities of the group to expand, so that they can offer their services to a larger number of potential beneficiaries. Approximately 100 people will benefit.
- Pelton CA Community Garden
- The project is to create a fully accessible garden for the community. The group will develop a wasteland to be used as a green space, a children's area will be installed and also a quiet area for older people. A ramp will be installed to make this more a
