The people that we worked with last year commented “this group bring a true sense of theatre to the school” , one teacher said ” I saw pupils engaging in a way I had never imagined” , “come back again soon Friendly Bombs”.

The Tempest project allows the members of the group to engage with a piece of classic text and recreate a version of this magical story for their peers.

With the support of People’s Millions we will be able to take the production to lots more people in the community.

The project will create an interactive theatre production of the Shakespeare play ‘The Tempest’ with a group of local people with learning disabilities as the actors. The actors will learn about theatre skills and improvisation which will work to combat the social isolation they face. The play will then be taken to day centres and schools in the surrounding area, to audiences that the applicant states are often unable to see live theatre. The project will also develop the training of the group’s volunteers.
