Border Projects

The Border region goes from Berwick upon Tweed down to Kendal on the east side and covers Peebles, Stranraer, through Carlisle and down to Whitehaven in southern Cumbria.

Over the past five years of the People’s Millions competition we have seen some great projects in the region. Previous winners include a children’s playground, an adventure play and wildlife area, an outdoor gym and many more.

Region Projects

Outdoor Fun
The 'Outdoor Fun' project will transform a small derelict area of rough uneven tarmac into a safe, fenced, stimulating outdoor play area adjacent to the Argus Centre for the use of the playgroup children (aged 2 - 4 years) and other groups. It will feature designed safety-surfacing, benches, plant containers, moveable play equipment and storage space (shed) and will benefit 30 - 40 children per annum.
Water Management and Enhancement of Allerby Community Garden.
The Water Management and Enhancement of Allerby Community Gardens project will alleviate current drainage and flooding problems making the 12-acre site and greenhouses more usable all year round. The drainage plan will create a new pond and wildlife area and the car park will be upgraded to allow for all-abilities access.
