If you want to carry out work on land or buildings you’ll need to do the following.
- find out if you need things like planning consent, change of use approval, approval under building regulations
- speak to the owner if you don’t own the land or building, to see if you can have a lease or written agreement for at least five years if you win
- include a contingency of up to 10 per cent in your estimates, as you don’t need quotes at this point.
- give us a detailed breakdown of costs
- go out to tender or get written quotes from two or more suppliers for work costing over £10,000
- tell us how likely it is that you’ll get any permissions you need
- tell us how you’ll make sure disabled people can get involved in your project, not just wheelchair users but also others, such as those with a visual or hearing impairment
- tell us how you’ll deal with any safety issues.
- send us proof that you own the land or building, or if you don’t, that you have the legal right to use it.
- confirm that you’ve got the permissions you need to do the work.
