The project will set up a dance company for people over 60 years old in Brighton and Hove to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of older people in the city. It will hold sessions led by high quality dance teachers and choreographers of all ages in various locations to attract interest, followed by weekly meetings. The weekly sessions will work towards two public performances.
“I have arthritis, but I enjoy moving. I loved today’s session and would love to continue. I feel it’s good for my body and emotional state. I am a carer and get stressed out, so it’s brilliant for me.” Female participant aged 60+, from contemporary dance taster sessions with South East Dance.
