Reading GrowAllot is Food4Families’ exciting new community allotment project.

Local families want to transform a piece of derelict land at Florian Gardens, Southcote into a thriving allotment growing fresh healthy food.

One in four residents here live in flats, with no garden to enjoy. Reading GrowAllot could give them the chance to start growing food together on this land.

Local resident Annie Turnbull said that `many of the kids on the estate don’t even know that vegetables are grown in the ground or that crisps are made from potatoes. It’s also about people talking to each other and working together, it’s about community’.
