Help us create and maintain jobs, improving health and the environment, in our community-owned group.

Moffat CAN is a community owned charity which runs food and waste projects. We operate a recycling collection, a community market garden, and allotments. We provide local jobs and training for people with barriers to employment. We need your help to survive and grow. Tasty Waste is a wide-ranging project focusing on using waste well, turning it into a resource. It will help bring the community together and enable more people to grow their own food. It will also develop our Aquaponics Greenhouse – a new way of growing fish and vegetables in water together.

GARDENSHARE
Your vote will help us start a gardenshare scheme in Moffat. We have a waiting list for allotments, and we know of elderly people who can no longer look after their gardens. Your vote will help us bring them together – old and young.

FOOD WASTE
Food waste is a real problem to deal with. We CAN use it! We will collect people’s vegetable waste to turn it into compost to grow tasty fresh food. Re-using, not throwing away.

AQUAPONICS
Our Aquaponics Greenhouse is the first in Scotland. Fish and vegetables grow in the same water, with the waste products from the fish being used by the plants. The plants clean the water for the fish, and the fish nourish the vegetables. You can help us develop and grow this new system, so that local people can eat locally-grown food – and so that other communities can see how it works and develop their own systems.
