Get Creative, Get Afloat

Young Lives brings you a new, exciting and innovative project for young people by young people. Blending together the modern and the traditional. A floating multimedia barge for young people to learn new skills that could really make a difference and change their lives.

If successful we will convert a barge into a state of the art multimedia facility for young people. Members of the local community will be involved with selecting the barge, undertaking the conversion project and completing the fit out. Young people will work with us to develop and design the facility so they can learn new skills and increase their confidence. Volunteers will be trained in boat handling and maintenance. This project will give young people an exciting and different way to learn new skills that could really make a difference and change their lives.

  • Young Lives presents Young Localism Dragons' Den, an opportunity for Young People to pitch to a panel of Young Dragons their idea for a community project, up to £1000. Watch as real young people, pith for real money, to make a real difference. Money for young people, decided on by Young People.
  • Young Lives Fashion Show for 2011 had a Multi Cultural theme. We partnered with Romsey Mill, East Anglia Children's Hospice, Action for Children and Barnardos to raise awareness and money for all five charities. The event was a great success and the young volunteers worked really hard to create the outfits and model for the show.
  • As part of BBC TV show Blue Peter's Bake a Difference appeal, Barney from Blue Peter came and hung out with the Get Creative team at Addenbrooke's Hospital, for "Get Creative on the Ward" a project funded by Children in Need. This video provides an insight to some of the work Young Lives partakes in. Registering and supporting us on this website does not count as voting. The voting phone number will be advertised here and in the Daily Mirror on the day. A short video about this project and the competing project will also be shown on the ITV regional news between 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
