Alfrey Activity Centre
The Alfrey Activity Centre Broadwater will refurbish a multi-functional building presently used as an indoor archery and rifle range, housing the county scout museum and a dry shelter. The building dates from the mid-1940s and is now falling into disrepair. This project will refurbish a large open area and will greatly improve the existing facilities for the benefit of Scout, Guides and other youth organisations that use the site each year. This conversion will allow us to host upto a further 700 young people and leaders at the activity centre.
The site has been running for 42 years, as a Scout Campsite.
Since 1998 we have invested in excess of £200,000 on refurbishment of the site.
During the year we have over 4000 visitors spending a total of 8500 nights of camping either indoor or outdoor.
We also entertain 500 day visitors each year.
The volunteer staff spend in excess of 14,000 hours at the site.
Staff are all volunteers and range in age from 14 – 70
